Sometimes the best advice a tradesperson can give isn’t about what they sell, it’s about steering a customer toward a result they’ll actually love living with.
That’s exactly what happened when Paul from Clagiraba called us about a new fly screen door. He came to us wanting mission brown frames. We suggested something different. And the finished result speaks for itself.
Paul needed a new fly screen door installed, and like many of our customers, he came with a colour in mind. Mission brown is a classic choice. It’s familiar, it works well on a lot of homes, and there’s nothing wrong with it.
But when our team took a look at Paul’s existing door frame, it was clear that mission brown wasn’t going to give him the seamless, finished look he was after. His door frame had the warm, rich grain of Merbau timber and mission brown, as classic as it is, simply wasn’t going to match it.
So our installer suggested Merbau Decowood instead.
Merbau Decowood is a timber-look aluminium frame finish. It captures the colour and grain pattern of real Merbau timber without the maintenance that comes with natural wood. When you place it next to an existing Merbau door frame, the visual continuity is striking.
That’s exactly the outcome we achieved for Paul. His fly screen frame now sits flush, in both colour and pattern, with his existing door frame. The whole entrance looks like it was designed that way from the start, not like a fly screen was retrofitted in whatever colour happened to be available.
It’s a small decision that makes a significant visual difference.
Paul left us a 5-star review on Google after the installation, and he put it better than we could:
“Very easy to deal with over the phone, very helpful team, our installer was great with good advice, glad we took his suggestion going from mission brown to decowood merbau so it would match the door frame. Love the door thank you.”
Paul, Clagiraba
That kind of feedback is what this work is about. Paul trusted our installer’s advice, went with a frame he hadn’t originally considered, and the end result is a door he loves.

Paul’s job is a good example of something we do for customers regularly: helping them find a frame colour that works with what they already have, rather than just picking a standard option off a chart.
A few things worth knowing:
We can help you match existing timber door and window frames. If your home has timber or timber-look frames, we can advise on the frame colour that will complement them best. The difference between a close match and a precise match is significant once everything is installed.
We offer frames in a wide range of standard colours. Our standard colour range covers the most common frame finishes used on Gold Coast homes. For most jobs, there’s a colour in the range that will work well.
We also offer custom colours on request. If your frames are a less common tone or a heritage colour that falls outside our standard range, custom colour options are available. Just ask us when you call.
This Upper Coomera job is a good example of a few things we do regularly for homeowners across the Gold Coast.
Full-home installations, completed in one visit. Rather than leaving some openings unscreened, we quote and complete the full property as a single job. It’s simpler, more consistent, and means you’re fully protected from the moment we leave.
Products that suit architecturally considered homes. SupaScreen is a strong choice for homes where aesthetics matter as much as security. The stainless steel mesh and quality framing work with the look of quality homes rather than pulling attention away from it.
Precise fitting for colonial and custom window profiles. Colonial-style windows require careful measurement and attention during fitting. We take the time to get each one right, so the result looks like it was always part of the house.
If you’re not sure which frame colour will suit your home or if you want someone to take a look before you commit, give us a call. We’ve been installing fly screens and security screens across the Gold Coast for over 28 years, and helping customers get the colour right is part of what we do.
